RACE 9 [TF1446]
CLASS 4 1200M
DIVISION 1

Prior to the start, INCREDIBLE SON (R Stewart) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. INCREDIBLE SON, which then broke through the front of its barrier, was recaptured, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Trainer ZL Mok was advised that a warning has been placed on INCREDIBLE SON regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

LUCKY FIND (App SH Low) began very awkwardly and shifted outwards abruptly.

SAGA KING (S Cormack) was slow to begin.

In the middle stages, despite its riders urging, SAGA KING failed to show any pace.

ANAK MIRI (App J See) raced wide without cover throughout.

Making the turn into the straight, INCREDIBLE SON was held up and unable to improve.

Passing the 300m, INCREDIBLE SON steadied when disappointed for a run between MAYBE YES MAYBE NO (B Vorster) and NERO (KB Soo), which rolled inwards.

Passing the 200m, LUCKY FIND momentarily steadied when SAGA KING shifted outwards to improve.

Over the concluding stages, QUEEN NARCISSUS (J Moreira) shifted inwards under pressure.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SO SOLID (O Placais) which revealed that the horse returned lame off-hind. SO SOLID will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

MONTEREY (J Powell) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned having debris in its trachea.

GENERAL

POST-RACE JOCKEYS URINE: FRIDAY
SINGAPORE 01 OCTOBER MEETING 2010

3 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

All samples were analysed and none failed except for the sample with Sample Coding No. J-2381 which revealed the presence of Methamphetamine and upon decoding was found to have been taken from App S Ruzaini.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Thursday, 18 November 2010, App Ruzaini, in the presence of his Master, Trainer S Cook, was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 136(3)(b) in that on Friday, 01 October 2010, he presented himself and fulfilled his riding engagements at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting that day, during the course of this Meeting, he provided a urine sample which upon analysis was found to contain the presence of Methamphetamine, in excess of the threshold limits in the rules and thereby defined as a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the submissions from App Ruzaini and his Master Trainer S Cook, his record and the nature of the prohibited substance. App Ruzaini was disqualified for a period of three years with immediate effect from Thursday, 18 November 2010 to Sunday, 17 November 2013 both dates inclusive and he was advised of his Right of Appeal.

On Friday, 19 November 2010, App Ruzaini exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him. The Appeal will be heard at a date to be fixed.

POST-RACE JOCKEYS URINE: SUNDAY
SINGAPORE 03 OCTOBER MEETING 2010

3 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

No prohibited substances were detected.

On Friday, 12 November 2010, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the circumstance surrounding Jockey S John being stood down from riding at the Singapore Race Meeting on Sunday, 03 October 2010. It was established that upon being advised that he had been selected to provide a sample for analysis, Jockey S John declared that he had taken medication. As Jockey S John had not brought the medication to the races, the Clubs Medical Officer was unable to determine if the medication contained any prohibited substances. A subsequent analysis of the sample provided by Jockey S John did not detect the presence of any prohibited substances. Evidence was also tendered that Jockey S John has declared these medications when duly required to and on the appropriate MRA Declaration Form.

In considering the evidence, it was apparent that Jockey S John had fulfilled his obligations under the MRA Rules and as such, no further action was taken.

SINGAPORE OCTOBER MEETING 2010
SUNDAY, 03 OCTOBER 2010:

RACE 10 [TF1242]

On Thursday, 18 November 2010, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for DYNAMIC DAN (App S Ruzaini) having to check when racing to the inside of HOPKINS (J Saimee) and MERCHANT (J Powell) near the 1200m. It was established that near the 1200m, MERCHANT changed stride and shifted inwards. This resulted in HOPKINS and DYNAMIC DAN, which had improved to the inside of MERCHANT, becoming crowded and DYNAMIC DAN losing ground. After consideration into all the circumstances, the Stewards believed that they could not substantiate a charge of careless riding. However, Jockey Powell was warned and reminded that at all times, he must make every effort to straighten his mounts when shifting ground in future.
