GOLD CITY Rider, when questioned, stated that the mare travelled well and was afforded every chance in the race, however, raced like a tired horse and in his opinion, would benefit from a break from racing. His explanation was noted. Impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned not striding out freely. Trainer C Brown confirmed that the mare would be spelled following today's race. CHARGER Slow to begin. Rider reported that the horse did not seem to appreciate today's track conditions. WHAT'S NEW Shifted outwards on jumping and inconvenienced YAYA PAPAYA. 50m after the start, shifted inwards and made contact with LITTLE BIG MAN. SUN HOPLITES Raced poorly and will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again. YAYA PAPAYA Which was slow to begin, was inconvenienced by WHAT'S NEW, which shifted outwards on jumping. Rider was questioned regarding his tactics between the 400m and the 200m and whilst the Stewards accepted his explanation that he was endeavouring to keep his mount balanced, he was advised that he must ensure to show sufficient vigour at the vital stage of the race in all circumstances. As to avoid a clash with an overseas race, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1655Hrs.
