Due to a delay in the start time of Race 5, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 2055Hrs.
SPEEDY WARRIOR (R Shafiq) was slow to begin.
MILLION ROUND (R Woodworth) jumped inwards at the start and bumped RED GENERAL (I Saifudin). Shortly thereafter, RED GENERAL had to be eased to avoid the heels of A LOT IN HAND (M Ewe) after being carried inwards by MILLION ROUND.
JOYOUS (App H Syafiq) and SMART MASTER (S John) made contact on jumping.
A LOT IN HAND and LIM¿S BATTLE (App WS Chan) bumped on jumping.
SPEEDY WARRIOR showed no early pace despite the urgings of its rider.
Near the 1000m, JOYOUS had to be eased when crowded between NOVA LEGEND (D David) and DRAGON RUBY, which shifted inwards slightly.
Near the 900m, RED GENERAL checked when racing to the inside of IMMORTAL LEGACY (J Powell) and HUN YEANG VILLAGE (App S Shafrizal). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.
JOYOUS raced wide throughout.
Near the 400m, SMART MASTER had to change course inwards after racing up onto the heels of NOVA LEGEND.
Near the 250m, RED GENERAL steadied to avoid the heels of IMMORTAL LEGACY, which shifted outwards under pressure.
Passing the 200m, DRAGON RUBY eased to avoid the heels of PERFECT CURIOSITY (TH Koh), which shifted outwards under pressure.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on RED GENERAL which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on NOVA LEGEND which revealed that the horse returned as a roarer. NOVA LEGEND will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.
Jockey S John reported that SMART MASTER was one paced throughout and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure near the 500m. He added that the gelding ran on only fairly in the homestraight. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SMART MASTER which revealed no apparent abnormality.
Trainer D Koh, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of MILLION ROUND, stated that he could offer no tangible explanation other than in his opinion, the gelding is better suited when racing over 1200m as opposed to its previous disappointing run over 1000m where MILLION ROUND failed to show any pace and struggled to keep up with the tempo of the race throughout. His explanation was noted.
