Prior to the start, FAST EDITION (G Boss) was examined by the Veterinary

NO SMOKING JEFF (App I Amirul) and SUN SEEKER (App T See) bumped on
jumping. A short distance later, NO SMOKING JEFF and SUN SEEKER were
crowded between RIVER GOLD (R Woodworth) and HEAVENLY HAND (D
David), which shifted outwards and away from STAR STRIKE (R Shafiq).
Shortly after the start, SOON YI (A Munro) and SILK ROUTE (K AIsisuhairi)
were crowded between HIGH COUNCIL (D Beasley), which shifted inwards
and LUCKY MISSION (B Vorster), which was carried outwards by FAST
EDITION. A short distance later, SOON YI had to be eased to avoid the heels
HIGH COUNCIL, which continued to shift inwards.
Approaching the 1000m, RIVER GOLD got its head up and mis-strode when
being steadied by its rider after PERFECT COMMANDO (TH Koh) shifted
inwards when racing forward of RIVER GOLD.
Near the 1000m, STAR STRIKE had to be momentarily eased when crowded
to the inside of HEAVENLY HAND, which had been carried inwards slightly by
FAST EDITION raced keenly for a short distance near the 900m.
Approaching the 800m, SOON YI, which commenced to overrace, had to be
eased to avoid the heels of LUCKY MISSION.
HIGH COUNCIL raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SILK ROUTE raced wide from the 600m.
Near the 300m, EURO ZONE (M Kellady) eased off the heels of STAR STRIKE,
which had been carried outwards by RIVER GOLD after that gelding was
taken outwards away from the heels of PERFECT COMMANDO, which rolled
outwards slightly. This resulted in FAST EDITION being taken outwards away
from EURO ZONE and carrying LUCKY MISSION out onto SOON YI, which
HEAVENLY HAND laid outwards under pressure over the final 100m, and near
the 50m, carried RIVER GOLD wider on the track.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LUCKY MISSION
which revealed no apparent abnormality.
Jockey G Mosse reported that the saddle on MISS WAIMATAITAI shifted back
on jumping, placing him at a severe disadvantage for the remainder of the
event. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MISS
WAIMATAITAI which revealed that the mare returned not striding out freely.
