RACE 6 (R1499) CLASS 5 1400M (LONG COURSE A) TOTO 4D STAKES
This race was rescheduled to start at 4:15pm.
The start of this race was delayed when FLYING AHEAD (J Shankar) cast its near fore
plate behind the barriers and had to be reshod. The gelding was examined by the Club
Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.
GOOD VIBRATIONS (M Zaidi) jumped outwards and inconvenienced LAZAROO (App
RUBICON (App R Fakruddin) jumped awkwardly, and had a tendency to race fiercely in
the early and middle stages and got its head up.
Approaching the 200M, LAZAROO shifted inwards resulting in RUBICON being taken in
onto JERAM GLORY (M Ganeesh) and as a result, JERAM GLORY had to be checked by
Approaching the 100M, RUBICON had to shift out over the heels of MALS DAD (S
Sandana) in order to gain a clear run.
Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider of JERAM GLORY, reported that his horse was making
respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of JERAM GLORY revealed that
the gelding returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test
before being declared to race again.
The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low, the rider of GOLD KIDS, App R Fakruddin, the
rider of RUBICON, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of SURPRISE SURPRISE, Jockey M
Ganeesh, the rider of JERAM GLORY, and Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SWAN SONG
into an incident approaching the 1300M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey M Ganeesh the rider of JERAM GLORY, pleaded
guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding
JERAM GLORY approaching the 1100M in this race, he allowed his horse to shift inwards
when insufficiently clear, taking SWAN SONG onto SURPRISE SURPRISE onto GOLD
KIDS onto RUBICON resulting in these horses to be severely checked. STREET CHAMP
(App WK Lee) which was following, was also inconvenienced in this incident.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Ganeeshs guilty
plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was
suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) Malaysian race days with effect from
28 November 2016 and to expire on 25 December 2016, both dates inclusive, to be served
concurrently with his current suspensions (28 November 2016 and to expire on 18
December 2016). He was advised of his Right of Appeal (6:15pm).
