RACE 7 (R1303) CLASS 5 1300M
HUSSAR which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the
Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
PRETTY ABLE, a course scratching as it had sustained a nail prick off fore foot, will be
required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Jockey TM Wan, the rider of GOLDEN EMPIRE, Jockey M Yusri, the rider of
HARDCORE ROCK and Jockey J De Souza, the rider of DGREAT WALL, reported
that their respective mounts did not handle the heavy track.
Post-race veterinary examinations of GOLDEN EMPIRE and DGREAT WALL
revealed no obvious abnormality. GOLDEN EMPIRE, which raced poorly, will be
required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Trainer S Hamilton was questioned regarding the apparent improved run of MR
VICTORY (S Salee) today as compared to its 2 previous runs on the 3rd and 11th of
September 2016 when racing on a soft track. Trainer S Hamilton advised the Stewards
that she had also been of the opinion that the soft track did not suit MR VICTORY but
this horse was racing in a weaker Class 5 today. She had also eased off the horses work
and raced fresh up. Trainer S Hamiltons explanation was noted and her attention was
drawn to the rules regarding in-and-out running (MRA Rule 117(3)).
RACE 2 (R1152), CLASS 5 1200M, SUNDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER 2016,
3RD DAY, PENANG SEPTEMBER MEETING 2016
At the conclusion of an Inquiry today (15th October 2016), after taking further evidence
from Trainer Nor Azman and Jockey TM Wan, and reviewing the films, Jockey TM Wan
pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of
the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that whilst riding BUKIT BINTANG in
the above race, after a reasonable jump from the barrier, Jockey TM Wan failed to make
sufficient effort to encourage his horse to race in a handy position with the pace as
instructed by Trainer Nor Azman and as such, he gave up an advantage of a good inside
barrier and which resulted in him racing further back in the field than he needed to be.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case and
Jockey TM Wans riding record. Jockey TM Wan was suspended from riding in races
for a period of three (3) months with effect from Monday, 17th October 2016 and to
expire on Monday, 16th January 2017, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right
of Appeal (12.25 pm).
