RACE 5 (R847) CLASS 5 1200M (SHORT COURSE A)
Shortly after the start, JET ACE (J Shankar) had a tendency to lay inwards despite the
efforts of its rider resulting in the racing room of SPARKLER (App A Thamil), AIR
STRIKE (App KC Wong) and WILL BE BETTER (App AK Lim) being restricted.
The Stewards questioned Jockey H Bukhari into the tactics that were adopted on LITTLE
LION. At the conclusion of an inquiry, after viewing the official patrol films of this event
and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations,
Jockey H Bukhari, the rider of LITTLE LION, was found guilty of a charge under MRA
Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the
charge were that from the 1000M mark, he failed to improve his position and show
sufficient vigour until the 400M when the horse ran home strongly. The Stewards were of
the opinion that he should have shown more vigour throughout the middle stages to gain
the best possible placing in the field.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey H Bukharis
mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the
provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey H
Bukharis suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2)
months with effect from 3 July 2016 and to expire on 2 September 2016, both dates
inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:30pm).
The Stewards further questioned Jockey H Bukhari into an incident approaching the 100M.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey H Bukhari, the rider of LITTLE LION, pleaded
guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding
LITTLE LION approaching the 1000M mark in this race, he shifted in when insufficiently
clear of VON SNITZEL (S Ruzaini) resulting in VON SNITZEL being placed in restricted
room and had to be checked by its rider.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey H Bukharis guilty
plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was
suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect
from 3 July 2016 and to expire on 16 July 2016, both dates inclusive, to be served
concurrently with his earlier suspension in this race. He was advised of his Right of Appeal
