RACE 4 (R311) CLASS 4 1200M (SHORT COURSE B), SATURDAY, 5 MARCH
2016, SELANGOR TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2016
The Stewards, on 6 March 2016 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into Jockey
M Ganeeshs ride on SACRED CITY. Evidence was taken from Jockey M Ganeesh, the rider
of SACRED CITY.
After viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the
Stewards acting on their own observations, Jockey M Ganeesh pleaded guilty to a charge
under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars
of the charge were that upon jumping, the Stewards believed that he failed to show sufficient
vigour to try and ride to his instructions in the early stages, and he elected to take hold of his
horse and just sit the horse rather than urging it forward to gain a handy position.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey M Ganeeshs guilty plea,
mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the
provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey M
Ganeeshs suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two (2) months
with effect from 13 March 2016 and to expire on 12 May 2016, both dates inclusive. He was
also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal (12:50pm).
