RACE 9 [TF0096]
CLASS 3 POLYTRACK 1000M
App MM Firdaus, the rider of BRAHMS AND LISZT, was fined a sum of S$200
for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and
ride at his declared riding weight.
Due to a delay in the start time of Race 8, this race was put back thirty-five
minutes and rescheduled to start at 1800Hrs.
Near the 800m, ROYAL FORTUNE (App Y Salim) had to be eased after
improving onto the heels of BOARD WALK (B Vorster).
ASSERTIVE LAD (App Z Zuriman) and BRAHMS AND LISZT both raced wide
Near the 400m, BRAHMA CIRCUS (CW Brown) shifted outwards to obtain
clear running, resulting in BRAHMS AND LISZT being carried outwards wider
on the track.
Leaving the 400m, SPEEDY DRAGON (App WS Chan) laid outwards carrying
CASTOR (App T See) wider on the track.
An Objection was lodged by Trainer J OHara, the Trainer of the second
placegetter, CASTOR, against SPEEDY DRAGON, being declared the winner,
on the grounds of interference in the straight. After deliberation and
considering all of the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion
that near the 200m, SPEEDY DRAGON shifted outwards bumping CASTOR
outwards, carrying that gelding wider on the track. SPEEDY DRAGON then
continued to shift outwards, carrying CASTOR even wider on the track.
Taking into account the alleged interference and the manner in which both
horses finished off the race, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that
the alleged interference had affected the result of the race and the Objection
was upheld. The result was amended to read:
1ST - CASTOR
2ND - SPEEDY DRAGON
3RD - BRAHMA CIRCUS
4TH - ROYAL FORTUNE
5TH - KEEN DRAGON
6TH - BRAHMS AND LISZT
An Inquiry into CASTOR being carried outwards on the track will be held at a
date to be fixed.
App Y Salim will be questioned regarding the run of ROYAL FORTUNE.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ROYAL FORTUNE
which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.
