RACE 1 (R1328) CLASS 5 1200M (Short Course A)
Prior to the All Clear being given, Trainer R Lines and Jockey J Low, the trainer and rider
of GOLD STAR PRINCESS respectively, viewed the official patrol film of the 800M into the

Shortly after the start, SUPER MIX (App SU Lim) was buffeted for some distance between
SUPER WINE (Lou Ho) and EASY AHEAD (S Ruzaini), and had to be restrained by its rider.
SUPER WINE had a tendency to race fiercely in the early stages of the event and had to be
eased off the heels of the runners in front.
Approaching the 900M, SUPER MIX (App SU Lim) had a tendency to lay outwards and RED
EASTERN shifted in marginally and as a result of this incident, GOLD STAR PRINCESS (J
Low) which was racing between these runners, was checked and had to be eased by its rider.
Racing to the 600M, BLACK COFFEE (J De Souza) had to shift in closer to the rails resulting
in EASY AHEAD (S Ruzaini) having to be eased by its rider and as a result lost ground.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey J De Souza, the rider of BLACK COFFEE, was found
guilty of a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii). The particulars of the
charge were that whilst riding BLACK COFFEE in this race, at approximately the 600M, he
did shift in from a one-wide position closer to the rails when insufficiently clear (2 lengths) of
EASY AHEAD (S Ruzaini) resulting in Jockey S Ruzaini having to ease his horse and losing
his rightful position. As a result of this incident, SUPER WINE, GOLD STAR PRINCESS, I
TOLD YOU and SUPER MIX received varying degrees of interference.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J De Souzas mitigating
factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding
in races for a period of two (2) Malaysian race days with effect from 9 November 2015 and to
expire on 21 November 2015, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal
Approaching the 300M, SUPER MIX was held up for a clear run for some distance before
having to shift in across the heels of runners to gain clear running.
SUPER WINE had a tendency to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
RED EASTERN raced wide throughout the event.
