RACE 8 (R576) CLASS 4  1000m(sc)  TRIUMPH HANDICAP

The saddle on BIG EGO (Y Aify) slipped backwards during the running of this race.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LA QUINTA (App AK Lim), ANAK PUJUT (App
SU Lim), TRIPLE COIN (S Salee) and AWINISAWIN (App KL Lee) revealed no
obvious abnormality.

The Stewards interviewed App AK Lim, the rider of LA QUINTA in relation to the
horses poor performance today. He stated that LA QUINTA was very disappointing
today and did not show the early speed that it showed when winning at its past two
occasions, when he placed the gelding under pressure, LA QUINTA failed to run on.
App AK Lim stated that LA QUINTA felt like a different horse today compared to its
previous two starts. LA QUINTA was impounded. LA QUINTA which performed
poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.
As Trainer Evelyn Seet had left the course, she will be questioned at a date to be fixed.

Stewards opened an Inquiry into the ride of Jockey J Chuah on HERE COMES
THUNDER. After taking initial evidence, the Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date to
be fixed to allow Trainer KF Wong to be present.


GENERAL REPORT

RACE 2 (R531) CLASS 5  1400m (lc)  EUPHRATES  1955 HANDICAP
PERAK APRIL DERBY MEETING  SUNDAY, 26th APRIL 2015

When questioned regarding the improved performance of TWELFTH AVENUE (HS
Gill), Trainer PK Leong stated that it had been (6) six weeks since the horse last raced
and trialed well on 7th April 2015. In his opinion, the field was weaker, as compared to
its previous start. Trainer PK Leong believes that TWELFTH AVENUE may have
appreciated racing on the home track with yielding track condition. Stewards noted his
explanations, however reminded him of his obligations of the Rules in relation to in-and-
out running.

HEARING OF AN APPEAL OF TRAINER STEPHEN COOK AGAINST THE
RM5,000 FINE IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA
RULE 152(5)(a) IN RELATION TO THE RUNNING OF RACEHORSE
STORMY BRUCE WHEN THE CHEEK-STRAP ON THE BRIDLE BECAME
UNDONE IN RACE 1 (R675) MAIDEN  1100m(str)  TIDAL BORE CARNIVAL
HANDICAP, 1ST DAY, SATURDAY, 17th MAY 2014, PERAK TURF CLUB MAY
MEETING 2014.

The Perak Turf Club Racing Stewards on Wednesday, 29th April 2015 heard an appeal
from Trainer Stephen Cook relative to the above matter.

After considering all submissions from Trainer Stephen Cook and the Acting Chief
Stipendiary Steward, Mr. Peter Dombkins, the Racing Stewards allowed his appeal.
Trainer Stephen Cooks deposit was refunded.


INQUIRY INTO THE OUT-OF-COMPETITION ANALYSIS OF URINE
SAMPLE CODED 06774 TAKEN FROM RACEHORSE STUB ON 17TH
FEBRUARY 2015 AND WAS REPORTED POSITIVE TO
PHENYLBUTAZONE & OXY-PHENYLBUTAZONE, PROHIBITED
SUBSTANCES UNDER MRA RULES OF RACING.

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Thursday, 30th April 2015 into the out-of-
competition analysis of urine sample coded 06774 taken from racehorse STUB on 17th
February 2015 which returned positive to Phenylbutazone & Oxy-Phenylbutazone,
prohibited substances under MRA Rules of Racing.

Further evidence were taken from Trainer Peter Lee and his Stable Supervisor Mr. Loo
Wing Onn, who was assisted by Interpreter Ms. Wong Lan Lee, Dr. Alistair Murdoch,
Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Perak Turf Club and USains Analyst, Ms. Chan Sue Hay.

After considering all evidence adduced, Trainer Peter Lee pleaded guilty to a charge
under MRA Rule 135(7) in that, he as the Trainer of racehorse STUB which took part in
the official race trial at the Perak Turf Club on 17th February 2015, and a subsequent
post-trial blood sample coded 06774 which was taken from STUB, upon analysis
revealed the presence of Phenylbutazone & Oxy-Phenylbutazone, both prohibited
substances under MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on the penalty, Stewards took into consideration his guilty plea,
disciplinary record, forthright evidence, mitigating factors and circumstances surrounding
the case. Trainer Peter Lee was fined the sum of RM3,000/- and advised of his right of
appeal (5.20pm).

Acting under MRA Rule 135(5), STUB had been disqualified from the trial and will be
required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again, but prior to
trialing, STUB must give a sample that is clear of any prohibited substance.

After considering all the evidence adduced, Stable Supervisor, Mr. Loo Wing Onn
pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 135(9) in that, he was a party to the
racehorse STUBs post-trial blood sample returning positive to Phenylbutazone &
Oxy-Phenylbutazone, both prohibited substances under MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on the penalty, Stewards took into consideration his guilty plea,
disciplinary record, forthright evidence and mitigating factors. Mr. Loo Wing Onn was
disqualified for a period of three (3) months with effect from 1st May 2015 and to expire
on 31st July 2015 (both dates inclusive). In addition, he was fined the sum of
RM10,000/- and advised of his right of appeal (5.24pm).


POST RACE URINE
19th APRIL 2015
PENANG TURF CLUB APRIL MEETING 2015

The report dated 30 April 2015 (V15/63) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic
Laboratory stated that 36 coded urine 36 sets of coded blood samples from the above
mentioned race meeting were received on 20 April 2015, for analysis under the MRA
Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

Laboratory stated that 2 coded urine samples from the above mentioned race meeting

prohibited substances were detected.
