GENERAL REPORT(S) - SLTC

RACE 3 (R131), SATURDAY, 24 JANUARY 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB
JANUARY MEETING 2015

The Stewards, on 27 January 2015 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the
reasons NINE POINT was slow to begin and the tactics adopted during the event.

After taking further evidence from Jockey I Fadzlei, the rider of NINE POINT and Jockey HS
Gill who was called as a witness and viewing the official patrol films, Jockey I Fadzlei was
found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the
Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:

1. He failed to allow NINE POINT to jump in the usual manner and as a result, he
restrained his horse upon jumping which contributed to it missing the start; and
2. The Stewards also agreed that from the 200M in the home straight, he failed to show
sufficient vigour while riding hands and heels or show sufficient vigour use of the
whip to allow his horse to finish in the best possible placing in the field.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey I Fadzleis mitigating
factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of
MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey I Fadzleis suspension.
He was suspended from riding in races for a period of 3 months with effect from 2 February
2015 and to expire on 1 May 2015, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000/- and
advised of his Right of Appeal (12:25pm).
Jockey I Fadzlei subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of
Sentence, which was granted. The Appeal against the suspension of 3 months and fine of
RM10,000/- will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 8 (R136), SATURDAY, 24 JANUARY 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB
JANUARY MEETING 2015
The Stewards, on 27 January 2015 at the Selangor Turf Club, questioned App SU Lim, the
rider of PRETTY DWARF, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer M Sukri, into the
riding tactics that were adopted on PRETTY DWARF in the above race.
It was a concern to the Stewards on why he failed to gain a handy racing position as per the
Trainers Instruction Form when he had the opportunity to do so. App SU Lim informed the
Stewards that the mare was slightly slow to begin and was unable to gain a forward position
due to horses on both sides having superior speed from the barriers. As a result, he elected to
restrain, and try and gain a position closer to the rail. This resulted in the mare racing further
back than instructed, however, believed this was a better option in the circumstances. The
mare ran home strongly over the concluding stages to finish in 5th place, beaten 1 ½ lengths
from the winner.
After viewing the official patrol films, the Stewards, acting on their own observations,
informed App SU Lim in the strongest terms that he should ensure he does his best to carry
out the Trainers Instructions where possible and no further action was taken.

AMENDMENT
RACE 8 (R098), SATURDAY, 17 JANUARY 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB
JANUARY MEETING 2015

The Stewards, on 22 January 2015 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the
riding tactics adopted on FASTNET STAR in the above race.

After taking further evidence from Jockey E Lopes, the rider of FASTNET STAR, and Trainer
A Scott, the Trainer of FASTNET STAR, and viewing the official patrol films, Jockey E
Lopes pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction
of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:
Jockey E Lopes failed to ride to the Trainers instructions to race in a midfield position when
he had the opportunity to do so and restrained FASTNET STAR to the rear of the field; and
1. The Stewards were also satisfied that he failed to take a run to the inside of FOX
COMMAND (App M Haris) at the 250M to improve his position where in the opinion
of the Stewards there was sufficient room to do so.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey E Lopes
mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the
provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey E
Lopes suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 months with
effect from 1 February 2015 and to expire on 31 March 2015, both dates inclusive. He
was advised of his Right of Appeal (12pm).

JANUARY MEETING 2015
The Stewards, on 22 January 2015 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry into the
riding tactics adopted on MAIBOY LOLLIPOP in the above race.
After taking further evidence from Jockey E Lopes, the rider of MAIBOY LOLLIPOP and
viewing the official patrol films, Jockey E Lopes pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule
44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were
that from the 1900M, he raced in an extremely wide position until the 800M when in the early

lengths from the winner.
