PARKER (M Rodd), which cast its off-hind plate, had to be reshod behind the
barrier causing some delay.
SUN THRONE (R Woodworth) was slow to begin.
WE ARE GENIUS (I Saifudin) jumped outwards at the start making contact
with VICTORY COMMANDS (M Esposito).
WINNING CAUSE (N Juglall) jumped away awkwardly.
Approximately 100m after the start, ANONYMOUS (S John) was buffeted for
a short distance between XZUBERANCE (B Prebble), which laid outwards and
PARKER, which shifted inwards abruptly after being bumped on the
hindquarters by ANONYMOUS.
Approaching the 1000m, TENMA (M Nunes) raced keenly for a short distance.
Shortly after passing the 1000m, FLAMBOYANT (B Vorster) was carried
inwards by VICTORY COMMANDS, which in turn shifted inwards and away
from NEWLANDS (CW Brown), which shifted inwards. At about the same
time, PARKER rolled outwards away from XZUBERANCE, resulting in
FLAMBOYANT (B Vorster) becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of
PARKER and having to be eased.
Approaching the 800m, FLAMBOYANT broke down and had to be eased out of
JET AWAY (J Moreira) raced wide throughout.
Making the turn into the straight, VICTORY COMMANDS was carried outwards
slightly wider when NEWLANDS laid outwards.
In the early part of the straight, COOL BELT (Z Purton) was held up on the
heels of VICTORY COMMANDS and approaching the 300m, had to be taken
inwards to obtain clear running.
Over the concluding stages, ANONYMOUS steadied off the heels of WINNING
CAUSE, which shifted inwards under pressure.
The Farrier reported that ANONYMOUS and WINNING CAUSE both returned
having cast their off-fore plates.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on FLAMBOYANT which
revealed that the horse broke its near-fore fetlock and was subsequently
