STIPE报告 RACE 1 [TF0082] KRANJI STAKES D SC (A) 1200M DIVISION 2 After arriving at the barrier, HIGHLIGHT (M Rodd) had its saddle readjusted. SUPERMART (S Sam) was slow to begin. DRAGON NINETYNINE (App J See), which jumped away awkwardly, made contact with GEARIGURU (S John). Shortly after the start, BLACK MAMBA (A Munro) steadied off the heels of WILKINSON (I Saifudin), which shifted inwards. Shortly after passing the 1000m, BEST NINE (D Flores) got its head up when being steadied after racing up onto the heels of WILKINSON. BEST NINE continued to prove difficult to settle and passing the 700m, lost ground after getting its head up. BEST NINE was held up behind BLACK MAMBA and unable to improve between the 600m and the 450m. DRAGON NINETYNINE, which made the turn into the straight wide, laid outwards and finished the race out wider on the track. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BEST NINE which revealed no apparent abnormality. Jockey Saifudin, when questioned regarding the run of WILKINSON, stated that he was instructed that he should maintain his advantage of the inside barrier draw, however, he was to be mindful that if runners wanted to take up a fast pace, he should elect to race back off them. However, with no early pace in the race, he found himself racing in a more forward position than anticipated. Trainer L Khoo stated that he had not changed his riding instructions but he believed that WILKINSON was able to race in a more forward position due to there being a number of horses which raced back in the field and also that the gelding was down in class. In addition, he believed the advantage of an inside barrier had also contributed to this. Their explanations were noted.
