The Stewards questioned App CC Wong and Trainer SH Tan, the rider and trainer of OIL
TOWN CAPTAIN respectively regarding the performance of the gelding. App CC
Wong stated that after getting a good jump and racing in a forward position and travelling
for approximately 300M, OIL TOWN CAPTAIN began to lose ground and dropped back
through the field to second last position where he raced until entering the straight. When
placed under pressure in the straight, the gelding only ran on moderately and managed to
pass a few other tired horses. Both App CC Wong and Trainer SH Tan were
disappointed in OIL TOWN CAPTAINs performance today but could offer no tangible
explanation for the geldings performance. The Stewards noted their explanations and
informed Trainer SH Tan that should anything come to his notice that could affect the
geldings performance today, he is required to notify the Stewards. A post-race
veterinary examination of OIL TOWN CAPTAIN revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards questioned Trainer Nor Azman and Jockey WK Yan, the trainer and rider
of LUCK ALOT respectively regarding the performance of the gelding. Jockey WK Yan
stated that after getting a good jump and racing in a favourable position to the 800M
where LUCK ALOT did not want to run on. Jockey WK Yan said that he placed LUCK
ALOT under pressure but the horse failed to respond and when placed under pressure in
the straight, the horse was very disappointing. Trainer Nor Azman stated that he too felt
that LUCK ALOT was very disappointing today and said that he changed the gear from
winkers to blinkers as LUCK ALOT had trialled well in the gear. In his opinion, LUCK
ALOT may not have appreciated the gear change today. He could offer no other
explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of
LUCK ALOT revealed no obviously abnormality. LUCK ALOT, which raced poorly,
will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
