RACE 3 (R1335) Class 4 1600M (Long Course B)
CASINO KING (Y Aify) jumped away awkwardly.
REAL MEAN (J De Souza) had difficulty in obtaining a clear run in the straight and racing to
the 200M, lost its running when KIM WARRIOR (R Burnett) shifted in and SPIN CITI (HS
Gill) shifted out and as a consequence, had to shift to the outside to obtain a clear run.
ACE SURPRISE Jockey L Sofhan lost the use of his near side stirrup iron at about the 50M,
placing him at a disadvantage.
ILLUSIONIST Jockey O Chavez was questioned as to that geldings performance today.
Jockey O Chavez confirmed his instructions were to be mid to back which were confirmed by
Trainer T Gillespie, the Trainer of ILLUSIONIST. Jockey O Chavez stated that he had a good
run but was disappointed with the pace of the race which was very slow and he felt that it did
not suit ILLUSIONIST. He further stated that it had a good run and on entering the straight
racing inside the 400M, he had to shift to the outside to obtain a clear run and that the gelding
finished the race off well. His explanation was noted for revision.
KIM WARRIOR Jockey R Burnett, at the conclusion of an Inquiry today, pleaded guilty to a
charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that over the final 50M in this race,
he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SPIN CITI (HS Gill) causing that
horse to be checked.
In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey R Burnetts guilty plea and his
previous riding record. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred
the commencement of Jockey R Burnetts suspension. He was suspended from riding in races
for a period of two (2) race days with effect from 19 October 2014 and to expire on 24
October 2014, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (3:05pm).
