RACE 2 (R1040), SUNDAY, 3 AUGUST 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB
AUGUST MEETING 2014

The Stewards, on Tuesday, 12 August 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an
Inquiry into the riding of RUSHEY GREEN (R Burnett) in the above race. Evidence was
taken from Jockey R Burnett and Trainer F Maynard the rider and trainer of RUSHEY
GREEN respectively and Dr Shri Kanth, Senior Veterinary Surgeon of the Selangor Turf
Club.

Jockey R Burnett was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride
to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that after a good
jump from Barrier 1, he failed to maintain a more forward position and failed to ride his
horse with sufficient vigour to maintain his position in the first 400M until racing to
about the 600M in the race. The Stewards were also not satisfied with his explanation.
In assessing on penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey R Burnetts mitigating
factors and his previous record. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of 3
months with immediate effect from 12 August 2014 and to expire on 11 November 2014,
both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of his Right of Appeal
(12:40pm).

The Stewards noted Trainer F Maynards evidence at the Inquiry.

Jockey R Burnett subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal and applied for a Stay of
Sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The
appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of 3 months and fine of RM10,000/-
will be held at a date to be fixed.

LAW respectively and Dr Shri Kanth, Senior Veterinary Surgeon of the Selangor Turf
Club.

Jockey J Shankar pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to
the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that the Stewards were
not satisfied with his vigour and use of the whip in the final 400M and as a consequence,
the Stewards were of the opinion that this has caused him to lose third placing.

In assessing on penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey J Shankars mitigating
factors and his previous record. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the
Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey J Shankars suspension. He was
suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 months with effect from 18 August 2014
and to expire on 17 October 2014, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000/-
and advised of his Right of Appeal (12:05pm).
