RACE 1 (R801) Class 5 1300M (lc-A)
Shortly after the start, FOX CALL (Lou Ho) had to be checked off the heels of KING OF
TOWER (HS Gill).
Racing to the 1100M, BLUE DELAGO (J Shankar) shifted in resulting in CASSANDRA
SHADOW (B Doyle) which was attempting to run to that horses inside, being taken in
resulting in MOXIE MOXIE (App SU Lim) being taken in, causing CHAMPAGNE ROSE
(SC Liew) being checked off the heels of MOXIE MOXIE.
The Stewards questioned App KC Tham, the rider of KINGSHIP ADMIRAL as to that
geldings performance today. App KC Tham confirmed his instructions were to be midfield
which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form but when the
gelding began well, he had raced forward than anticipated. He stated that he kept KINGSHIP
ADMIRAL balanced until inside the 200M when he commenced to ride with the whip, the
gelding failed to respond to his riding and commenced to weaken over the final 200M of the
race. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of KINGSHIP
ADMIRAL revealed no significant finding.
The Stewards questioned Trainer D Murphy, the Trainer of EMPEROR QIAN LONG, as to
that geldings performance today. He stated that EMPEROR QIAN LONG had been working
well and the stable was surprised with the geldings performance today and he could offer no
real explanation for its improvement except that he thought it was better suited in todays
distance. Trainer D Murphys explanation was noted and he was warned in terms of MRA
Rule 117(3) regarding inconsistent and unreliable running.
After taking initial evidence from Jockey SC Liew, the rider of CHAMPAGNE ROSE, the
Stewards adjourned an Inquiry into the riding of CHAMPAGNE ROSE to a date to be fixed.
