RACE 9 (R771) Restricted Maiden  1200M (sc-A)

Shortly after the start, ROYAL SHOW (App M Hanif) threw its head up and raced
ungenerously.

The saddle on POWER IN HAND (App R Fakruddin) slipped sideways at about the 600M,
placing App R Fakruddin at a disadvantage throughout the race.

Racing to the 900M, ULALA (Lou Ho) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROYAL
SHOW which was racing greenly.

LUCOSTAR (L Sofhan) and UNCLE BULLY (I Chisty) both raced greenly throughout the
race.

The Stewards adjourned an Inquiry into App R Fakruddins use of the whip on POWER IN
HAND in the straight to a date to be fixed.


GENERAL REPORT(S) - SLTC

TUESDAY, 20 MAY 2014, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL/TEST

SPANISH GARDEN (N97) passed its Blinkers test on 20 May 2014 in the above test.


TUESDAY, 27 MAY 2014, SLTC OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL/TEST

VEHICLE SIXTYNINE (N14) which jumped from the barrier but failed to take part in the
race, will be required to pass 2 starting stall tests before being passed to race again.


RACE 6 (R711) Class 3  1200M (sc-B), SATURDAY, 24 MAY 2014, SELANGOR
TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2014

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the withdrawal of CALIFORNIA CAT in the above
race. Jockey R Burnett, the rider of CALIFORNIA CAT, explained that after leaving the
mounting yard, CALIFORNIA CAT became very fractious and dislodged him. He further
stated that he had not ridden CALIFORNIA CAT previously although he was aware that the
horse could be fractious.

After considering all the evidence, the Stewards imposed 1 starting stall (to be ridden unaided
to the barrier) test on CALIFORNIA CAT before being declared to race again.


RACE 9 (R714) Class 5  1100M (sc-B), SATURDAY, 24 MAY 2014, SELANGOR
TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2014

The Stewards questioned Trainer R Lines, the Trainer of BLACK COFFEE, as to that
geldings performance. Trainer R Lines stated that as BLACK COFFEE had drawn wide, he
expected it to settle further off the pace than at its most recent starts and that he was satisfied
with the run the horse had throughout the race. He further stated that when it failed to respond
in the straight, he was of the opinion that the extra distance and the condition of the track had
resulted in BLACK COFFEE failing to finish the race off. Trainer R Lines explanation was
noted and he was warned in terms of MRA Rule 117(3) regarding inconsistent and unreliable
running.


REPORT OF ANALYSIS FOR NON-RACE DAY SAMPLE CODED 17062

The report dated 23 May 2014 (NRD14/06) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic
Laboratory stated that the blood and urine samples for non-race day sample analysis were
received on 14 May 2014, for the presence of Dextromethorphan. Dextromethorphan was not
found in the samples which belonged to the horse SHINING GLORY, and as such SHINING
GLORY is cleared for racing.


HEARING FOR AN APPLICATION FOR A STAY OF SENTENCE BY MR
THANGGARAJANEESH A/L MUNUSAMY (APP M GANEESH) IN RELATION TO
HIS DISQUALIFICATION OF 1 YEAR AND FINE OF RM50,000/- FOR
CONTRAVENTION OF MRA RULE 44(8) IMPOSED BY THE STIPENDIARY
STEWARDS IN CONNECTION WITH HIS RIDING OF JACK BAUER IN RACE 6
(R410) ON SATURDAY, 22 MARCH 2014 (NOVELTY) AT THE SELANGOR TURF
CLUB MARCH MEETING 2014

App M Ganeesh, the rider of JACK BAUER, subsequently exercised his Right of Appeal
against the disqualification of 1 year and fine of RM50,000/- imposed by the Stipendiary
Stewards on March 2014.

The Stewards, on 4 June 2014, heard an application for a Stay of Sentence by App M
Ganeesh. After hearing his submission and after careful consideration, the Stipendiary
Stewards decided NOT to grant him a Stay of Sentence. His disqualification commenced on 8
April 2014 and to expire on 7 April 2015, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of
Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards to the SLTC Racing Stewards
(11:50am).

The appeal hearing against the penalty of the disqualification of 1 year and fine of RM50,000/-
will be held at a date to be fixed.


STIPENDIARY STEWARDS INQUIRY

The Stewards, on Thursday, 29 May 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an
investigation into matters brought to the Stewards attention on 22 March 2014. The Stewards,
after reviewing evidence submitted at enquiries on 4, 8 and 30 April 2014 and written
statements, charged Mr Rozani Bin Saari (STR107) under MRA Rule 152(3).

The particulars of the charge being that he made statements which may be prejudicial to the
integrity and proper conduct and good reputation of horse racing in Malaysia, and that those
statements being made in the presence of witnesses on or around December 2013.

Mr Rozani was found guilty and after taking into account his submissions, was suspended
from applying for a license with the Malayan Racing Association for a period of three (3)
months, back dated from 22 March 2014 when his employment was terminated, and to
conclude on 23 June 2014, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.


STIPENDIARY STEWARDS INQUIRY

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Wednesday, 4 June 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, Trainer
T Gillespie was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 152(2) as read with MRA Rule
33(2) for employing Mr James Bernard McCabe when he was unlicensed. He was fined
RM1000/- and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again:

RACE 7 (R742) CLASS 5  1700m [JAJAKA HANDICAP], 3RD DAY, SUNDAY,
1ST JUNE 2014, PENANG TURF CLUB LATE MAY/EARLY JUNE ANNIVERSARY
CUP MEETING 2014

When questioned today (3rd June 2014) regarding the performance of TIGER CAPTAIN,
Jockey K Eirwan stated that he was instructed to get a good jump, sit mid-field, make his
move near the 500m and do his best in the straight. He said that after getting a good jump, his
mount commenced to race under pressure near the 800m and approaching the 700m, he gave
TIGER CAPTAIN a slap down the shoulder with the whip in an endeavour to urge his mount
along. He further stated that approaching the 600m, he again gave his mount a slap down the
shoulder with the whip but it did not respond as expected and ran home moderately. His
explanation was noted. A veterinary examination of TIGER CAPTAIN on Monday (2nd June
2014) revealed no obvious abnormality.



PENANG TURF CLUB APPRENTICE SCHOOL  FRIDAY, 30TH MAY 2014

Apprentice Z Khairil, in the presence of his Master, Trainer J Tan, was fined RM200/-
(Malaysian Ringgit Two Hundred only) for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing
to attend the Apprentice School without a reasonable explanation.

Apprentice S Shafrizals explanation, in the presence of his Master, Trainer J Tan, for failing
to attend the Apprentice School was accepted as he provided a Medical Certificate from the
Penang Island Hospital declaring him unfit for duty from 27th May 2014 to 2nd June 2014, both
dates inclusive.

2014

The report dated 5 June 2014 (V14/57) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic
Laboratory stated that 21 coded urine and 21 sets of coded blood samples from the above
mentioned race meeting were received on 26 May 2014, for analysis under the MRA Rules
and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
