RACE 6 (R583) Class 4 1300M (lc-A)
App KP Lim was fined RM250/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to seek
the Stewards permission to ride overweight on ELECTING.
The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low, the rider of BUKIT SUBANG as to that geldings
performance today. Jockey J Low confirmed his instructions were to be midfield which were
confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form. Jockey J Low stated that
BUKIT SUBANG began well and he was settled a little further back than midfield and that
BUKIT SUBANG was comfortable and raced well to the 600M where he shifted out around
YES CLUB (LL Tai) to obtain a clear run on entering the straight. He further stated that on
entering the straight, he placed BUKIT SUBANG under the whip and it responded to his use
of the whip fairly but was very one-paced to the finish of the race. His explanation was noted
for revision. Trainer PS Kumaran confirmed the Instructions and stated that he was
disappointed with the geldings performance.
The Stewards questioned Jockey SC Liew, the rider of MASQUERAIN, in the presence of
Trainer PS Kumaran, the Trainer of MASQUERAIN, as to that geldings performance today.
Jockey SC Liew confirmed his instructions were to be handy to midfield which were
confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form. Jockey SC Liew stated that he
was able to carry his instructions out and from the 600M when MASQUERAIN commenced
to race fiercely, he elected not to come out until entering the straight to obtain a clear run. The
Stewards noted his explanation for revision.
At the conclusion of an Inquiry today, App AM Aizat, the rider of TRAVERTINE, in the
presence of his Master, Trainer JB Brogan, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under
MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that racing to the 1100M in this race, he shifted in too abruptly when
insufficiently clear of YES CLUB (LL Tai) causing that horse having to be steadied resulting
in ELECTING (App KP Lim) having to be checked.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account App AM Aizats guilty plea and
previous riding record. App AM Aizat was suspended from riding in races for a period of two
(2) race days with effect from 28 April 2014 and to expire on 3 May 2014, both dates
inclusive. He was advised of his Right of Appeal (4:30pm).
