LAST MAN STANDING which failed to be presented at the pre-race holding area,
was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4:05pm. The Stewards concluded an
Inquiry on the failure of LAST MAN STANDING to be presented at the pre-race
holding area as required under MRA Rule 109(1). Trainer D Murphy was fined
RM1000/- for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).
This race was rescheduled to start at 6:05pm.
The Stewards questioned Jockey L Allpress, the rider of PRETORIA, as to that
geldings performance today. Jockey L Allpress confirmed her instructions were to be
midfield which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form.
She stated that from a wide barrier, she was caught wide and that from entering the
straight, she put PRETORIA under pressure but it failed to respond to her riding and
commenced to weaken. Her explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary
examination of PRETORIA revealed no significant finding. PRETORIA will be
required to pass a 1000M/vet test before being declared to race again for having a

The Stewards questioned Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of CAVORTING, as to that
geldings performance today. Jockey Lou Ho confirmed his instructions were to be
handy which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instruction Form.
Jockey Lou Ho stated that after being a little slow to begin, he rode forward to carry
out his instructions and from the 800M, was caught wide until entering the straight
when he commenced to ride CAVORTING with the whip, it failed to respond to his
riding. His explanation was noted for revision. A post-race veterinary examination of
CAVORTING revealed that it had sustained a bumper injury off hind. The gelding will
be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter on 11 May 2014 at the
Selangor Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Trainer BT Lim, the Trainer of POWER
IN HAND, Trainer R Lines, the Trainer of COSTAMIALOT, and both of their Syces,
Dr Shri Kanth, Senior Veterinary Surgeon of SLTC and SLTC staffs involved in this
After hearing all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that there had been a
miscommunication that had inadvertently led to both POWER IN HAND and
COSTAMIALOT failing to be presented to the pre-race holding area. The Stewards
were also satisfied with the evidence tendered and took no further action.
