DIVISION 2

SPARKLING STAR (App J See) was slow to begin.

CASSIS OOLONG (M Zaki) became unbalanced after bumping FRAGRANCE
EMPIRE (M Ewe) on jumping.

Shortly after the start, SATELLITE KING (D Flores) and HONGCHEN (App R
Shafiq) bumped resulting in HONGCHEN then making contact with the
hindquarters of WORK AHEAD (I Saifudin).

SCARLET STAR (App S Noh) had a tendency to lay outwards in the straight.

Subsequent veterinary examinations were requested on both SATELLITE
KING and CASSIS OOLONG which revealed no apparent abnormality.

GENERAL

SINGAPORE MARCH MEETING 2014
SUNDAY, 23 MARCH 2014:

RACE 6 [TF428]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Wednesday, 06 August 2014, App R
Shafiq, the rider of KINGSLEY, in the presence of his Master, Trainer M
Walker, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(ii) in that whilst
riding KINGSLEY in Race 6 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 23
March 2014, shortly after entering the straight, he, as the rider of KINGSLEY,
used his whip in an inappropriate manner when he used his whip in a forward
motion, thereby striking the hindquarters of VON SNITZEL (App LQ Kek)
when racing to the inside of that gelding. When deciding on penalty, the
Stewards took into account his record, nature of the charge and submissions
from App Shafiq that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race
Meetings on Friday, 08 August 2014 and Sunday, 10 August 2014. The
Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races for a period of
two months. However, acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of
the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 11 August 2014 until
Friday, 10 October 2014. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

SINGAPORE JUNE MEETING 2014
FRIDAY, 20 JUNE 2014:

RACE 8 [TF836]

An Inquiry into the run of SATELLITE KING (D Flores) was concluded on
Wednesday, 06 August 2014. When questioned, Jockey Flores stated that he
was instructed not to place the gelding under pressure early and allow his
mount to settle. He further stated that in his opinion, SATELLITE KING was a
horse with a short sprint. Trainer D Koh confirmed the instructions. Jockey
Flores also stated that SATELLITE KING travelled well initially, however,
approaching the turn and in the early part of the straight, the gelding
appeared to strike itself with its hind legs and was not striding freely in front,
as such, as he was concerned with SATELLITE KINGs galloping action, he
attempted to balance his horse up in the early stages of the straight.
Thereafter, near the 250m, SATELLITE KINGs galloping action improved and
the gelding ran on fairly when placed under pressure. Jockey Flores further
stated that with runners compounding in front, this may have given the
impression that SATELLITE KING had finished on very well. Evidence was
also tendered that the day following the race, SATELLITE KING had received
extensive veterinary treatment and medication for three days for a sore
back. Whilst noting the explanation, Jockey Flores was warned and advised
to ride in a manner so as not to arouse query and also that he must in future
report anything that may affect either his horses or riding at any stage of the
race.

SINGAPORE JUNE MEETING 2014
FRIDAY, 27 JUNE 2014:

RACE 3 [TF856]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Wednesday, 06 August 2014, App WS
Chan, the rider of DR N WING FIGHTERS, in the presence of his Master,
Trainer L Khoo, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule
44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding DR N WING FIGHTERS in Race 3 at the
Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 27 June 2014, approaching the
600m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear,
thereby crowding SUPER JOE (B Vorster), which checked and lost
ground. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his
record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and
submissions from App Chan that he has been engaged to ride at the
Singapore Race Meeting on Friday, 08 August 2014. The Stewards
determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule
48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on
Saturday, 09 August 2014 until Sunday, 10 August 2014 both dates inclusive
(two Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

SINGAPORE JUNE MEETING 2014
SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014:

RACE 8 [TF887]

An Inquiry into the riding of ROYAL BRAT (App R Shafiq) over the concluding
stages was concluded on Wednesday, 06 August 2014. When questioned,
App Shafiq stated that he had placed ROYAL BRAT under pressure for the
majority of the straight, however, over the concluding stages, it compounded
and he did not pressure his mount just prior to the Finish. Stewards were of
the opinion that over the concluding stages, ROYAL BRAT had been headed
by runners to its outside and that the placing had not been affected.
However, App Shafiq was warned and reminded of his obligations to ride his
mounts out to the Finish of the race.

RACE 8 [TF887]

An Inquiry into the run of INCREDIBLE HULK (App H Syafiq) was concluded
on Wednesday, 06 August 2014. When questioned, App Syafiq stated that
his mount commenced to shift outwards whilst being ridden along and as
such, he made the turn into the straight wide. Whilst Stewards were of the
opinion that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate a charge, App
Syafiq was warned and advised that he should be mindful and not cover
excessive ground on his runners in future.
