CASH ADVANCE (J Powell) which was fractious and broke through the front of
its barrier, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on veterinary
advice, it was withdrawn by order of the Panel of Stewards ordered its
withdrawal at 1809Hrs. CASH ADVANCE will be required to pass a 1000m
gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being
declared to race again.
SOON YI (O Chavez) jumped awkwardly inwards and as a result, had to be
steadied away from the heels of NEUTRINOS (D Beasley).
USAIN COLT (App K AIsisuhairi) was slow into stride.
Near the 800m, USAIN COLT, which was proving difficult to settle, became
awkwardly placed on the heels of WAIRAKEI (L Allpress) for a number of

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Sunday, 16 March 2014, Jockey I Santana,
the rider of ASTROSTAR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under
MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding ASTROSTAR in Race 5 at the
Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 14 March 2014, near the 300m, he
shifted his mount outwards, when insufficiently clear, resulting in SELIGI (J
Powell) having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into
account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and
carelessness. Jockey Santana was suspended from riding in races with
immediate effect from Sunday, 16 March 2014 to Friday, 21 March 2014 both
dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of

On Sunday, 16 March 2014, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the
reasons for RAPIDO STAR (J Powell) having to check when racing to the
outside of SUPERNOVA (App Z Zuriman) and CAPTAIN OBVIOUS (O Chavez)
and to the inside of VALEVOLE (B Vorster) and GOAL KEEPER (D Beasley)
approaching the 1000m. It was established that approaching the 1000m,
RAPIDO STAR was crowded for room between VALEVOLE, which shifted
inwards and away from GOAL KEEPER and SUPERNOVA, which was carried
outwards slightly by CAPTAIN OBVIOUS. In the circumstances, no blame
could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.
