RACE 7 [TF337]
POLYTRACK MILE CHAMPIONSHIP 1600M
SPORE-G3

Shortly after the start, DUJARDIN (N Berry) steadied when crowded between
JOHNNY GUITAR (B Vorster) and SPEEDY CAT (L Allpress), which was
bumped inwards by WILD GEESE (App K AIsisuhairi).

Near the 1400m, CITY LAD (KB Soo) steadied when awkwardly placed on the
heels of NANDOWRA (S John).

After passing the 1400m, SPEEDY CAT eased when crowded by WILD GEESE,
which shifted inwards slightly.

STEPITUP (I Santana) and FLYING FULTON (D Flores) both raced wide
throughout.

SUPER NINETYSEVEN (A Munro) was unable to improve from the 600m until
near the 400m due to it being held up for clear running behind NANDOWRA,
which had shifted outwards and FLYING FULTON.

Near the 50m, FLYING FULTON had to change course abruptly outwards to
avoid the heels of TRUDEAU (CW Brown), which was eased down by its rider.

Jockey Brown, when questioned regarding the performance of TRUDEAU,
stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages and
initially responded to his riding when placed under pressure rounding the
hometurn. He added that near the 200m, TRUDEAU commenced to struggle,
and, as he became concerned that something was amiss with the gelding, he
eased him down passing the 150m. His explanation was noted. Jockey
Brown also reported that TRUDEAU was not striding out freely. A subsequent
veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
