RACE 2 [TF260]
INITIATION POLYTRACK 1200M
HORAZ SAMOSIR (V Leal), which stood flat-footed and lost considerable
ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared
to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).
APPRECIATION (HK Cheng) began awkwardly.
ON TWISTTER (D Beasley) and ROCKET PANDA (I Santana) bumped on
MIGHTY ASTROBOY (App K AIsisuhairi) jumped awkwardly outwards and
bumped CLASSIC EFFECT (D Flores).
Passing the 1000m, SMART CHIEF (CW Brown) was inclined to lay inwards
away from POWER LIN (M Nunes). This resulted in PURE WHITE (A Munro)
and OCTIVIA (App R Rueven) racing tight for a short distance.
MIGHTY ASTROBOY raced wide and laid outwards from the 800m.
Near the 300m, CLASSIC EFFECT checked when racing tight to the outside of
ON TWISTTER. On Inquiry, Jockey Beasley pleaded guilty to a charge of
careless riding under MRA Rules 44 (9) in that near the 300m, he made
insufficient effort to straighten his mount ON TWISTTER thereby allowing it
to shift into the running of CLASSIC EFFECT when insufficiently clear and
resulting in that horse having to be checked. When deciding on penalty, the
Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference,
carelessness and submissions from Jockey Beasley that he has been engaged
to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 28 February 2014 and
Sunday, 02 March 2014. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to
ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the
suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 03 March until Sunday, 09
March 2014 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was
advised of his Right of Appeal.
Jockey Santana, the rider of ROCKET PANDA, eased his mount down near the
200m when in his opinion the horse was not riding out freely. A subsequent
veterinary examination revealed that the horse returned with cut on its near-
fore. ROCKET PANDA, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m
gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on CLASSIC EFFECT
which revealed no apparent abnormality.
