RESTRICTED MAIDEN POLYTRACK 1200M
WEIGHT FOR AGE
(2 & 3 YEARS OLD)
MOONBEAM DAZZLER (E Aslam), which was restless in the barrier and broke
through the front of its barrier dislodging its rider, was examined by the
Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on veterinary advice, the Panel of Stewards
ordered its withdrawal at 1324Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must
be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race
again. Trainer S Yeoh was advised that a warning has been placed on
MOONBEAM DAZZLER regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to
improve them or action may be taken in future.
TIME AFTER TIME (I Saifudin), which dislodged its rider behind the barrier,
was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
TIME AFTER TIME, which was difficult to be loaded, will be required to pass
one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA
BRAVE CAVALIER (D Flores), which was difficult to be loaded into the barrier,
will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race
again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).
GOLDEN DRAGON (M Kellady), ANAK CARABAO (I Santana) and MONTREAL
GOLD (R Lim) all began awkwardly.
AUREUS (L Allpress) shifted outwards at the start and bumped NOVEMBER
STAR (M Au).
MONTREAL GOLD showed no early pace despite the urgings of its rider.
Near the 800m, TIME AFTER TIME had to be steadied outwards away from
the heels of ENCOSTA ZONE (M Nunes), which shifted inwards.
TIME AFTER TIME laid outwards from the 800m to the 400m.
CIVIL UNION (M Suhaimi) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Near the 400m, BRAVE CAVALIER shifted inwards abruptly.
Near the 300m, GOLDEN DRAGON was bumped heavily by BRAVE CAVALIER.
At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey Saifudin pleaded guilty to a charge of
careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that after passing the 300m,
he shifted his mount outwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding
BRAVE CAVALIER out onto GOLDEN DRAGON with BRAVE CAVALIER
becoming unbalanced and losing ground. When deciding on penalty, the
Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference,
carelessness and submissions from Jockey Saifudin that he has been
engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 14 February 2014
and Sunday, 16 February 2014. The Stewards determined to suspend his
licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement
of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 17 February 2014 until
Saturday, 22 February 2014 both dates inclusive (two Race Days). He was
advised of his Right of Appeal.
Jockey Lim, the rider of MONTREAL GOLD, reported that the horse had
returned with its saddle having shifted back during the race. This was
subsequently confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MONTREAL GOLD
which revealed no apparent abnormality. MONTREAL GOLD, which raced
poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary
examination prior to being declared to race again.
