RACE 1 [TF211]
CLASS 5 POLYTRACK 1000M
MAGIC DIVA (I Saifudin) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
CARNIVAL STAR (App Z Zuriman) and SARONG (M Suhaimi) bumped on
Shortly after the start, MAGIC DIVA was cramped for racing room between
HAPPY FOREVER (L Allpress) and SALUTE (R Lim), which was carried inwards
slightly by CALIFORNIA KID (A Munro).
Approaching the 900m, LUCKY GENERAL (BN Sharul) lost ground when
crowded between BALLY BOY (App T Rehaizat) and HAPPY FOREVER, which
laid inwards. As a result of this, LUCKY GENERAL shifted outwards
marginally. At the same time, SALUTE shifted inwards, thereby crowding
MAGIC DIVA, which lost ground.
RORY (O Chavez) raced wide throughout.
Shortly after passing the 800m, FRENCHMAN (D Beasley) was carried wider
on the track when MAGIC DIVA hung outwards.
FRENCHMAN laid outwards making the turn into the straight.
Shortly after passing the 300m, LUCKY GENERAL checked when racing to the
inside of CARNIVAL STAR and BALLY BOY. At a subsequent Inquiry, App
Rehaizat, in the presence of his Master, Trainer D Koh, pleaded guilty to a
charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 300m,
whilst riding his mount along with the whip, he allowed his mount to shift
inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying CARNIVAL STAR in onto
LUCKY GENERAL, which checked and lost ground. When deciding on penalty,
the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of
interference, carelessness and submissions from App Rehaizat that he has
been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 14 February
2014 and Sunday, 16 February 2014. The Stewards determined to suspend
his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the
commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 17
February 2014 until Saturday, 22 February 2014 both dates inclusive (two
Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Near the 200m, Jockey Lim, the rider of SALUTE, was dislodged from his
mount. SALUTE returned with its saddle having shifted back significantly.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BALLY BOY which
revealed no apparent abnormality.
Trainer HK Tan, when questioned regarding the apparent improved
performance of RORY, stated that at its previous start, the gelding had
resented the kickback and ran on poorly. He added that from a wide barrier
in todays event, he instructed Jockey Chavez to jump well and to obtain a
position where comfortable and to try and race in a position so as to avoid
the kickback. He further stated that Jockey Chavez was able to position
RORY, although wide, so as to avoid the kickback and he believed that this
may have attributed to todays improved run. His explanation was noted.
