RACE 3 [TF3]
HAPPINESS 2014 STAKES
CLASS 4 LC (E) 1800M
CHEETAH KING (L Allpress) was slow into stride.
Approaching the 1200m, FLYING AHEAD (A Munro) was inconvenienced and
taken wider on the track when PRINCE MAG (D Flores) shifted outwards
when improving its position.
Approaching the 600m, SUPER VICTORY (B Vorster) and CHEETAH KING
brushed on a few occasions.
FLYING AHEAD raced wide throughout.
Passing the 100m, FLYING AHEAD was bumped by TANGIBLE ASSETS (D
Beasley), which shifted outwards abruptly under pressure.
Jockey Munro, when questioned regarding the run of FLYING AHEAD, stated
that shortly after the start, he intended to settle behind MAKE A RETURN
when that gelding took up a forward position. He added that when
attempting to do so, SUPER VICTORY eased, resulting in him being caught
three wide. He added that when attempting to go forward near the 1400m,
SUPER VICTORY improved to his inside, resulting in his mount continuing to
race wide. He was then forced wider on the track passing the 1200m when
PRINCE MAG shifted outwards and inconvenienced his mount. He further
added that as a result of these circumstances, he was committed to race
wide for the remainder of the race. His explanation was noted.
Trainer H Takaoka, when questioned regarding the apparent improved
performance of TANGIBLE ASSETS, stated that since the geldings last run,
the gelding had been freshened and shown some improvement in its work.
He added that in his opinion, TANGIBLE ASSETS is better suited racing over
1800m and that the slow tempo in the early stages was favourable for the
gelding. His explanation was noted.
