RACE 9 (R1699) Class 4 1400M
ROYAL BOURBON HANDICAP
HANG TUAH, which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by
the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
This race was rescheduled to start at 5.45 pm.
As LUCK SUCCESS (I Azhar) was difficult to be loaded, Trainer Nor Azman was told
that a warning had been placed on the gelding to improve its barrier manners, failing
which action may be taken in future.
KIM SALUTE (App R Rueven) was slowly away, thereafter showed no early pace
despite being urged along.
Near the 250M, HANG TUAH (HK Cheng) steadied when crowded for room between
WOJCINSKI (K Eirwan) which rolled outwards and KIM SALUTE which switched
inwards across the heels of EPIC ENCOUNTER (S Salee).
Post-race veterinary examinations of HANG TUAH, WOJCINSKI, SPEEDY TIGER (W
Davila) and BRING IT ON (HS Gill) revealed no obvious abnormality.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of KIM SALUTE, Trainer MH
Wee stated that he was surprised with the win today, however did state that KIM
SALUTE, at its previous start, received interference at the start and lost ground and
thereafter showed no early pace over the 1700M, which in his opinion was a stronger race
than today. He further stated that after the geldings last start, he had freshened up KIM
SALUTE by swimming the gelding and less trackwork and believed that KIM SALUTE
was more suited over the 1400M today. His explanation was noted.
