When the gates were released, MR MARVEL (J Shankar) shifted out and bumped BRASH
SON (App R Rueven) which bumped TWELFTH AVENUE (Lou Ho) which bumped
ENCOSTA FARINA (O Chavez).
Racing inside the 200M, MR MARVEL had to be steadied off the heels of MOSCATO (App
App R Rueven, the rider of BRASH SON, was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA
Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip at about the 400M.
Jockey L Allpress, the rider of TARAMIS, reported that her horse was not striding out freely
and eased the gelding out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of TARAMIS
revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a 1000M/vet test before
being declared to race again.
The Stewards questioned Jockey O Chavez, the rider of ENCOSTA FARINA, as to that
geldings performance today. He stated that his instructions were to be midfield which were
confirmed from the Trainers Instruction Form. He further stated that he began well and was
able to settle midfield and that as there was a lot of speed in the race, he did not improve on
the gelding until after the 600M, and that he commenced to ride with the whip from the 400M
and ENCOSTA FARINA responded only fairly to his riding. He said that overall, he thought
that the way the race was run today had not suited the horse. His explanation was noted for
revision. A post-race veterinary examination of ENCOSTA FARINA revealed no significant
