GUAN YI, a course scratching as it was sore in the near fore fetlock, will be required to
pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
REGAL KNIGHT, which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by
the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
HAIRY BOY (H Barnabas) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped GIFTS DAWAN
(App KC Tham).
Shortly after the start, I WISH (R Woodworth), ETERNAL CHEERS (K Eirwan) and
BORDER EXPRESS (App S Shafrizal) were crowded for room between LANCER MAN
(HS Gill) which rolled outwards, and HUMBLE HARVEST (App M Razali) which
rolled inwards. I WISH lost ground in this incident.

ETERNAL CHEERS, BORDER EXPRESS and LANCER MAN, which all raced poorly,
will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockey M Wepner, the rider of BLACK MAGIC WOMAN, reported that his mount was
not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no
obvious abnormality. BLACK MAGIC WOMAN, which raced poorly, will be required
to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
When questioned regarding his ride on HAIRY BOY, Jockey H Barnabas stated that he
was instructed to get a good jump, sit where comfortable and do his best in the straight.
He said that in the early stages of the race, he elected to race wider on the track in the
better going. He further stated that he gave HAIRY BOY a slap down the shoulder in the
back straight which it responded and improved its position. Rounding the home turn and
near the 400M, he still elected to race wider on the track as his mount was responding in
the better part of the track and in the home straight made up ground over the concluding
stages of the race. The Stewards told Jockey Barnabas that despite the heavy conditions
today, he should have used his initiative to cover less ground on the home turn than what
he did on this occasion. His explanation was noted.
