RACE 6 (R634) Class 5 1300M (lc-A)
Racing to the 300M, CHIEF MINISTER (App M Ganeesh) shifted out resulting in RED
CARPET (M Wepner) being disappointed for a run and as a result RED CARPET had to
shift out to obtain clear running to the finish of the race.
Jockey HS Gill, the rider of SWISS BANK, explained that the gelding was brushed
shortly after the start by HOONG WAN (S Sani) and as a result over-raced in the early
and middle stages of the race. Jockey HS Gill further stated that his instructions were to
be midfield which were confirmed from the Trainers Instruction Form. He said that after
the incident at the start, he got back further than anticipated. He stated that he rode for an
inside run until inside the 400, when he placed SWISS BANK under the whip, the
gelding only responded to his whip riding fairly until the concluding stages of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of SWISS BANK revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date to be fixed.
The Stewards questioned Jockey S Sani, the rider of HOONG WAN, regarding his ride
on the gelding. He stated that HOONG WAN jumped away awkwardly and as a result
raced fiercely in the early stages of the race and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of
the runners in front of him on several occasions. He further stated that his instructions
were to be well-back which were confirmed from the Trainers Instruction Form. The
Stewards adjourned the Inquiry at a date to be fixed.
Jockey J Lermyte, the rider of BRASH SON, was questioned by the Stewards as to that
geldings performance today. He stated that his instructions were to race forward which
were confirmed from the Trainers Instruction Form. Jockey J Lermyte said that that
horse travelled well, sharing the lead and raced well until entering the straight and that at
the 200M, was taken out by CHIEF MINISTER and was unbalanced for a short distance.
He said that he rode BRASH SON out with the whip to the finish of the race and it
responded fairly. His explanation was noted.
The Stewards questioned Jockey M Wepner, the rider of RED CARPET, regarding the
geldings performance. He stated that his instructions were to be midfield which were
confirmed from the Trainers Instruction Form. He further stated that he was hampered
for a clear run at the 300M when CHIEF MINISTER shifted out. Jockey M Wepner said
that he rode RED CARPET vigorously under the whip and he considered had he not been
held up earlier in the straight, he may have finished closer. His explanation was noted.
Jockey J Low, the rider of BEING CLASSIC, explained to the Stewards that his
instructions were to be midfield which were confirmed from the Trainers Instructions
Form. He explained that the gelding raced ungenerously and threw its head about on
several occasions. Jockey J Low said that he had been caught wide without cover and that
that the slow paced had not allowed BEING CLASSIC being settled in the middle stages
of the race. He further stated that upon entering the straight, he commenced to ride
vigorously with his whip in the left hand from the 300M, and that BEING CLASSIC
shifted in on several occasions. His explanation was noted for revision. A post-race
veterinary examination of BEING CLASSIC (J Low) revealed no obvious abnormality.
