RACE 2 (R507) CLASS 4 1100M Str. INDIAN HEATHER-1950 HANDICAP
CHAMPAGNE NEEDED which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was
checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
WIN MILLION, a course scratching which had sustained a bruised off-fore sole, will be
required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
The race was re-scheduled to start at 2.00pm.
App SL Lam who was unable to make the carded weight on CIZEN PURE, was fined the
sum of RM500/- under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).
The saddle on CIZEN PURE (App F Yusoff) was re-adjusted at the start.
BERCHAM (M Leong) was slowly away.
JAZZ IT UP (HS Gill) jumped awkwardly and was slowly away and thereafter raced
keenly and difficult to settle in the early stages of the race.
Near the 300M, GOLD STAR PRINCESS (J Shankar) and HANDSOME BACHELOR
(TM Wan) checked when racing tight between WATERFALL (J Lermyte) which shifted
inwards under pressure and STUNNING SAPPHIRE (M Wepner) which shifted
outwards under pressure. Both Jockeys M Wepner and J Lermyte were shown the video
and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Near the 100M, NORDSTROM (App I Amirul) steadied off the heels of CIZEN PURE
which rolled outwards under pressure.
SAGA KING (Lou Ho) and SKY LORD (App KM Lai) which both raced poorly, will
each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.
Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of SAGA KING and Trainer KK Loh will be questioned
regarding the disappointing performance of SAGA KING at a date to be fixed. A post-
race veterinary examination of SAGA KING revealed no obvious abnormality.
A post-race veterinary examination of SKY LORD revealed no obvious abnormality.
When questioned regarding his ride over the concluding stages of the race, Jockey J
Lermyte, the rider of WATERFALL stated that his mount was not responding to his
riding and felt that WATERFALL had run its race and elected not to push him out
vigorously over the later part of the race. Jockey J Lermyte was warned for failing to
ride WATERFALL out to the end of the race and was told that further action may be
taken against him in future. A post-race veterinary examination of WATERFALL
revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that BIG FELLA (C Goon) returned with
respiratory distress and will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared
to race again.
