MOONEE VALLEY RACING CLUB TROPHY [SET WEIGHTS]
LEGEND, a course scratching as it was sore off fore fetlock, will be required to pass a
veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
Emergency acceptor, TILSWORTH GLENBOY (App H Barnabas), was withdrawn due
to a capacity field.
FABULOUS KNIGHT, which was up 23kgs in body weight since its last run, was
checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
Near the 800M, FUMIO (C Goon) steadied, over-reacted and threw its head up when
being momentarily crowded for room by JOYFUL (C Lindop) which was taken inwards
when racing tight on the inside of IWA ANTILIA (I Azhar) which shifted inwards
slightly. Jockey I Azhar was shown the film and warned to exercise more care when
shifting ground in future.
Near the 500M, RAFFLES PEGASUS (App M Ganeesh) steadied off the heels of
VOLPISTA (N Callow).
KNIGHT SPIRIT (App T Rehaizat) and FABULOUS KNIGHT (App KK Chin) raced
wide home turn.
VOLPISTA raced wide throughout.
GENEROUS TYCOON (App Z Khairil) finished the race wide in the home straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of FUMIO revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that VOLPISTA returned with heat distress and
FABULOUS KNIGHT returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress. VOLPISTA and
FABULOUS KNIGHT will each be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being
declared to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of SAMURAI PHOENIX (S Salee) revealed that the
gelding returned broken-winded and as such will be required to pass a test (1200M/vet)
before being declared to race again. A second opinion will be made by the home-based
Veterinary Surgeon regarding corrective surgery due to the geldings age.
When questioned regarding the performance of IWA ANTILIA, Jockey I Azhar stated
that he was instructed to get a good jump, ride a forward race, lead if possible, if not sit
2nd or 3rd position. He said that he sat in behind the leader in the early stages and near the
800M, IWA ANTILIA dropped the bit and was under pressure and approaching the
600M when he asked for an effort, the gelding did not respond and was disappointing.
His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of IWA ANTILIA
revealed that it returned cut off hind-leg. IWA ANTILIA will be required to pass a
veterinary examination before being declared to race again. IWA ANTILIA was
