App CF Wong, the rider of YOYO reported that his mount did not handle the going.
When questioned regarding the performance of GOOD MEANING, App BN Kumar, in
the presence of his Master, Trainer K Coetzee, stated that he was instructed to get a good
jump, sit in 4th or 5th position and do his best in the straight. He said that he was able to
sit in 4th or 5th position as instructed and felt that the gelding was travelling well during
the race until the home straight when he asked for an effort, he felt that his mount did not
handle the going. His explanation was noted. Trainer K Coetzee confirmed the
instructions and stated that GOOD MEANING was resuming from a spell today and he
was happy with the geldings track work leading into todays race and felt that GOOD
MEANING would finish in the placings. However, he believed that GOOD MEANING
did not accelerate like it normally does and only responded marginally on the heavy
going today. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of GOOD
MEANING revealed no obvious abnormality.
