UTAH PARDNER.

heels of UNWIND (LL Tai) and as a result lost ground.

mare was impounded.

App I Fadzlei, the rider of LASER GUIDED, reported that his horse was not striding out
freely. A post-race veterinary examination of LASER GUIDED revealed no obvious

GENERAL REPORT (S) SLTC

RACE 5 (R408) Class 4 1400M (lc-B), SUNDAY, 24 MARCH 2013, SELANGOR
TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2013

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter on 27 March 2013 at the
Selangor Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Jockey L Sofhan and Trainer K Hughes,
the rider and trainer of LAZAROO respectively.

The Stewards confirmed from the Trainers Instructions Form that the instructions given
by Trainer K Hughes were to be mid to back. Trainer K Hughes stated that she was of the
opinion that LAZAROOs run on that day was disappointing and she thought that the
gelding may need a let-up before racing again. She also said that although LAZAROO
had acted in yielding going in the past, she thought the gelding was better suited on
firmer tracks than on Sunday.

Jockey L Sofhan stated that he had ridden the gelding out of the barrier and settled mid to
back as instructed and that from the 600M, he commenced to improve and racing to the
500M, he commenced to ride LAZAROO with the whip in the right hand. He also
advised the Stewards that he continued to ride with the whip in the right hand until
approaching the 200M when he changed his whip to the left hand as LAZAROO had
failed to respond to his right-hand whip riding. Jockey L Sofhan further explained that
from the 200M, LAZAROO failed to finish the race off under the whip.

The Stewards noted their explanations.

RACE 10 (R413) Class 4 1400M (sc-B), SUNDAY, 24 MARCH 2013, SELANGOR
TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2013

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the above matter on 27 March 2013 at the
Selangor Turf Club. Evidence was taken from App SS Vanan, the rider of JEAN
FRANCOIS, in the presence of his Master, Trainer Tony Yeoh and Trainer F Maynard,
the trainer of JEAN FRANCOIS.

App SS Vanan pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to
the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that the Stewards
were not satisfied with his ride approaching the 400M, when there was a run to the inside
of MYSTIC FIGHTER (HS Gill), he steadied his mount, came to the outside of MYSTIC
FIGHTER and then shifted back in to obtain a run which in the opinion of the Stewards,
was always available for him to take.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App SS Vanans guilty
plea, his points of mitigation and previous record. App SS Vanan was suspended from
riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 7 April 2013 and to
expire on 6 July 2013, both dates inclusive, to be served consecutively to his current
suspension which expires on 6 April 2013. He was also fined RM10,000/- and advised of

the rider of MUSASHI MAMBO, as to why he had not ridden the gelding out over the
final 100M of the above race.

Jockey J Nizam stated that racing to the 100M, he had to steady to avoid the heels of
EASY AHEAD (App R Rueven). The Stewards accepted that he had been hampered at
the 100M and warned that he would be expected to ride all his mounts out in such a
manner so as to leave no room for query.

TURF CLUB MARCH MEETING 2013

J Nizam and Trainer Shane Edwards, the rider and trainer of YES CLUB respectively.

Jockey J Nizam pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to
the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:
1. The Stewards were not satisfied that he made sufficient effort to carry out his
instructions and make a reasonable effort to get cover and to avoid racing wide
particularly down the back straight between the 1000M and the 800M;
2. The Stewards were not satisfied that the horse was hanging out to the degree he
stated; and
3. He covered unnecessary ground and made insufficient effort to avoid that.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey J Nizams guilty
plea, his points of mitigation and previous record. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule
48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey J Nizams suspension. He was
suspended from riding in races for a period of three (3) months with effect from 31

Jockey C Goons ride on OCTALERT in the above race. Further evidence was taken
from Jockey C Goon and Trainer Shane Edwards, the rider and trainer of OCTALERT
respectively.

Trainer Shane Edwards stated that his instructions were to be midfield which were
confirmed from the Trainers Instructions Form. He further stated that he was aware that
OCTALERT could race fiercely and be difficult to settle in its races, and he reported that
on arrival back to the stable, the mare had lacerations to its mouth. He also advised the
Stewards that he was satisfied that Jockey C Goon was unable to carry out his
instructions due to OCTALERTs racing habits.

Jockey C Goon stated that from his barrier, he had looked to his inside to try and carry
out his instructions but OCTALERT would not settle and got its mouth open and raced
fiercely leaving him no alternative but to be caught 3-wide in the lead.

The Stewards, from the vision of the film, confirmed Jockey C Goons evidence and also
Trainer Shane Edwards evidence, and directed the Club Veterinary Surgeon to inspect
OCTALERTs mouth and report to the Stewards with regards to the same. Their
explanations were noted.

the rider of DEKATI, in the presence of his Master, Trainer JB Brogan, regarding his ride
on the mare.

App S Mutaza explained that his instructions were to be mid to back which were
confirmed from the Trainers Instructions Form and by Trainer JB Brogan.

App S Mutaza explained that DEKATI travelled well midfield until the 200M when he
put the mare under pressure, it responded well to his riding and finished the race off
strongly. The Stewards asked App S Mutaza as to why he did not commence to ride
vigourously between the 400M to the 200M, and App S Mutaza and Trainer JB Brogan
both agreed that he should have used more vigour at that stage of the race.

The Stewards warned App S Mutaza that he must show more initiative throughout the
race than he did on this occasion, and that his vigour from the 400M to the 200M was
questionable. The Stewards, on this occasion, gave him a benefit of the doubt and took
no further action.

Trainer JB Brogan was warned to be more precise with his instructions in future.

confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainers Instructions Form. Jockey J Shankar stated
that the gelding travelled well until entering the straight and when being under pressure,
it failed to respond to his riding as it had at its previous start. Jockey J Shankar further
stated that it was his opinion that AVE THE SNIP may not have handled the yielding
going track.

Trainer Shane Edwards reported to the Stewards that AVE THE SNIP was better suited
in better going than on Sunday.

racing keenly, he was more forward than he had anticipated. He further stated that during
the running of the race, he was concerned with his saddle shifting. He added that he rode
GOLD STAR PRINCESS out with the whip to the finish of the race but it failed to
respond to his riding and weaken over the final 50M of the race.

Trainer R Lines stated that due to the slow pace, he was not surprised that GOLD STAR
PRINCESS was more forward. He confirmed that on returning to scale, the saddle on the
