RACE 9 (R170) Class 4 1400M
MALAYAN DAWN HANDICAP

DROGO (M Zairi) stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. The gelding will be
required to pass a test (1 starting stall) before being declared to race again.

On jumping, BERCHAM (WK Yan) and CAREY ISLAND (S Salee) were crowded for
room between FIRE GENERAL (M Leong) which jumped awkwardly outwards, and
MONEY TRAP (R Woodworth) which jumped awkwardly inwards. BERCHAM lost
ground in this incident.

Near the 1200M, FIRE GENERAL checked. An inquiry into this incident will be held at
a date to be fixed.

BERCHAM and ROCKET EXPRESS (App H Bukhari) raced wide rounding the home
turn.

DROGO hit the running rail rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.

Near the 200M, CRYSTAL (HK Cheng), which was improving, was held up when
disappointed for a run between BIG RED (App KY Yap) and CABRERA (App M
Hanif). Shortly afterwards, CRYSTAL switched outwards across the heels of BIG RED,
in order to obtain clear running.

Near the 100M, CRYSTAL was again held up when disappointed for a run between BIG
RED and SPEED FLYING (J Low) and only obtained clear running near the winning
post.

HERE COMES THUNDER (TM Wan) raced wide throughout.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that HERE COMES THUNDER returned, having cast
its off-fore plate.

Post-race veterinary examinations on CAREY ISLAND and DROGO revealed no
apparent abnormality. DROGO, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test
(1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BERCHAM, Jockey WK
Yan stated that he was instructed to get a good jump, sit off the pace and make his move
near the 600M. He said that after being crowded at the start, he was unable to sit off the
pace as instructed and thereafter, BERCHAM showed no early pace despite being urged
along. He said that when he asked for an effort from the 600M, his mount did not
respond as expected and was disappointing. His explanation was noted. A post-race
veterinary examination on BERCHAM revealed no apparent abnormality. BERCHAM
was impounded.

RACE 1 (R155) [WARM SEASON HANDICAP, MAIDEN 1400M], 1ST DAY,
SATURDAY, 2ND FEBRUARY 2013, PENANG FEBRUARY MEETING 2013

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on 3rd February 2013, App A Nawawi, the rider of
SUPREME ISTANA, in the presence of his Master, Trainer Dr SH Tan, pleaded guilty to
a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 1200M, he
allowed his mount SUPREME ISTANA to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of
LUCKY COMET (R Woodworth), causing that gelding to shift inwards onto KIM
PROTECTOR (App KY Yap) thereby causing that gelding to check and lose ground.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App A Nawawis guilty
plea, his forthright evidence and riding record. App A Nawawi was suspended from
riding in races for three (3) race days with effect from Monday, 4th February 2013 and to
expire on Tuesday, 12th February 2013, both days inclusive. He was advised of his Right
of Appeal (12.08 pm).

RACE 1 (R155) [WARM SEASON HANDICAP, MAIDEN 1400M], 1ST DAY,
SATURDAY, 2ND FEBRUARY 2013, PENANG FEBRUARY MEETING 2013

When questioned regarding the performance of KIM PROTECTOR, App KY Yap stated
that near the 1200M, his mount received a check and lost considerable ground.
Thereafter, he tried to balance the gelding and near the 600M, he had to steady off LUKY
COMET (R Woodworth) which rolled outwards. He stated that thereafter, his mount
raced greenly in the home straight and did not respond under hands and heels. His
explanation was noted.

RACE 7 (R161) [MOTIVATION HANDICAP, CLASS 4 1400M], 1ST DAY,
SATURDAY, 2ND FEBRUARY 2013, PENANG FEBRUARY MEETING 2013

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PRINCE NANO, Jockey R
Woodworth stated that he was instructed to ride the horse close to the front which he was
able to do. He said that from near the 600M, PRINCE NANO commenced to lose ground
and after receiving a bump at the top of the straight, the gelding continued to lose ground
and when he asked for an effort in the home straight, his mount did not respond as
expected and was disappointing. Trainer PK Leong confirmed the instructions and
stated that he was disappointed with the geldings performance and added that PRINCE
NANO may not have handled the firm track and thought that PRINCE NANO may not
have seen out the 1400M. His explanation was noted. Trainer PK Leong was told to
notify the Stewards should he become aware of anything that has some bearing on the
geldings performance. PRINCE NANO will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet)
before being declared to race again.
