ETERNAL WIN which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked
by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to race.
Stewards permitted App CK Tan to replace App KY Yap as the rider of MR LUCKY.
SILVER ELEMENT (Lou Ho) was checked at the barriers and was passed fit to race.
SUBORDINATE (App KM Lai) and SILVER ELEMENT (Lou Ho) were slowly away.
MASTER JIANGMEN (App How Yang) raced wide first turn.
Near the 1000M, ROCKET EXPRESS (App H Bukhari) and CAPTAIN PENANG (J
HEART BY HEART (TM Wan), SILVER ELEMENT and EXCELLENT GOAL (J Low)
all raced wide home turn.
Near the 100M, SUBORDINATE which was improving, switched outwards across the
heels of CAPTAIN PENANG in order to obtain clear running.
Post-race veterinary examinations of ESPERANZA, EXCELLENT GOAL and
HEART BY HEART revealed no obvious abnormality.
The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUBORDINATE returned with cut near
hind pastern and will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being
declared to race again.
Jockey J Shankar, the rider of CAPTAIN PENANG was warned to ensure that he
rides all his mount out to the finish, failing which action may be taken in future.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of HOME RUN (App SS
Vanan) compared to its last start on the 6th January 2013, Class 4, 1400M in Ipoh,
finished 10th beaten 11 ¼ lengths, Trainer Evert Van Breukelen stated that he gave
the same instructions for both runs to ride a forward race, however last start, the
rider was unable to get across in a forward position from an outside barrier and was
forced to race wide for most of the journey. He said that with the benefit of a better
barrier today and over a longer distance, he was able to race nearer to the running
rail and have a better run in transit as compared to last start. Trainer Evert Van
Breukelens explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the Rules
regarding in-and-out running.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WIND OF SUCCESS,
App WT Chung, in the presence of his Master Trainer Dr. Tan Swee Hock stated that
his instructions was to get a good jump, sit where comfortable and do his best in the
straight. He said that in the home straight, when he asked for an effort on WIND OF
SUCCESS, his mount did not respond as expected and was disappointing. Trainer
Dr. Tan Swee Hock confirmed the instructions and stated that WIND OF SUCCESS
was down 6kgs today from its last start and may not have travelled well to Ipoh,
however, he thought that WIND OF SUCCESS had a small chance today, but was
disappointing. His explanation was noted. Trainer Dr. Tan was advised that if he
detects any abnormality with the gelding after cooling down, he would be expected to
report this to the Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination of WIND OF
