RACE 11 [TF1528]
LONGINES SINGAPORE GOLD CUP 2200M
MARTIN (D Beasley), which was restless in the barrier, was taken out,
examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
Trainer L Laxon was advised that a warning has been placed on MARTIN
regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action
may be taken in future.
STREET LEGAL (CW Brown) and LORD BROMPTON (App K AIsisuhairi) were
both slow to begin.
CASH LUCK (V Leal), which proved extremely difficult to settle throughout,
blundered near the 800m.
DUJARDIN (I Saifudin) raced wide from the 800m.
ORAKEI KORAKO (B Vorster) laid inwards over the final 200m and over the
concluding stages, brushed DRAGONFLY (C Newitt).
CASH LUCK, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial
and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.
The Stewards concluded an Inquiry into a report from the Clerk of Scales
that Jockey G Boss, the rider of MUSKETEER, returned to scale 1.0kg over
the declared weight that he weighed out for the above race. Jockey Boss
pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 121(7) in that after riding
MUSKETEER in Race 11 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 17
November 2013, he returned to scale 1.0kg in excess of the declared weight
that he weighed out for the race. There was no evidence to suggest that
Jockey Boss had or attempted to deceive the Clerk of Scales when weighing.
However, Jockey Boss had admitted consuming fluids after he weighed out
for the race and that this may have contributed to him returning overweight.
When considering penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the
charge, his record, guilty plea and submissions from Jockey Boss that he has
been engaged to ride at the Race Meetings in Australia on 24, 25 and 26
November 2013. In addition, the Stewards also considered Jockey Boss
racing commitments in the upcoming weeks. The Stewards determined to
suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the
commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Wednesday, 27
November 2013 until Sunday, 01 December 2013 both dates inclusive (two
Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
