Emergency acceptors HIGH QUALITY and POWERFUL GIRL were withdrawn due to
a capacity field.
SENTOSA which was up 25kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the
Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.
GITHAN, a course scratching which had sustained stone bruise off fore, will be required
to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.
App SC Liew (BRIGHT KING) was fined RM500/- for negligence under MRA Rule
152(5)(a) for failing to make the carded weight. Stewards permitted App CK Tan to
replace App SC Liew as the rider of BRIGHT KING.
Acting on the Starters advice that SPEED TRAIN (I Azhar) was restless in the barrier,
SPEED TRAIN was removed from the barrier, was examined by the Club Veterinary
Surgeon and was passed fit to race.
BIG SUR (G Hind) and PERHAPS (MW Teh) were slowly away.
TONGA MALAKI (BN Shahrul) was slow into stride.
DAVID DYNASTY (J Shankar) showed no early pace.
Near the 300M, PERHAPS which was improving, steadied inwards across the heels of
FREEDOM BELL (K Eirwan). SENTOSA (S John) which was following, steadied off
the heels of PERHAPS.
SENTOSA and FREEDOM BELL (K Eirwan) which both raced poorly, will each be
required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
Post-race veterinary examinations of BIG SUR, FREEDOM BELL, SENTOSA and MR
MAGIC revealed no obvious abnormality. MR MAGIC was impounded.
Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of FREEDOM BELL reported that his mount was not striding
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MR MAGIC, Jockey WK
Yan stated that he was instructed to get a good jump and lead if possible. He said that
when he asked for an effort in the home straight, his mount did not respond as expected
due to the heavy track. His explanation was noted.
Trainer LN Danis confirmed the instructions and stated that MR MAGIC had been
working well recently and expected the gelding to have a good chance today and felt that
it did not handle the heavy track. Trainer LN Danis was advised that if he detects any
abnormality with the gelding after cooling down, he would be expected to report this to
the Stewards. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of MR
MAGIC revealed no obvious abnormality and was impounded.
