When question regarding the apparent improved performance of SACRED DEW (S
Salee) compared to its last start on the 11th November 2012 in a Maiden Handicap,
1200M when it finished 13th beaten 11 lengths, Trainer B Ng stated that SACRED DEW
was only having its 3rd start for him and he stated that his instructions today from an
inside barrier was to go to the front, if possible on the track condition today. He said that
last start he gave the same instructions, however on that occasion, SACRED DEW was
unable to get across from an outside barrier. He said that SACRED DEW had been
working well and expected to have a chance today. Trainer B Ngs explanation was
noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding in-and-out running.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LORD COLLARI, Jockey
J Shankar stated that he was instructed to lead, however, if the pace was too fast, to sit
2nd, 3rd, 4th. He said that he sat in 3rd position and approaching the first turn, LORD
COLLARI changed stride in the heavy going. He further said that he endeavoured to
improved his position from the 600M, but did not respond and near the 200m, his mount
commenced to give ground and was disappointing. His explanation was noted.
Trainer PK Leong confirmed the instructions and stated that LORD COLLARI had been
working well and with the benefit of the recent barrier trial win, he expected LORD
COLLARI to have a chance today. He further stated that he believed that the heavy
track, an outside barrier and racing against experienced horses had contributed to its
disappointing performance today. Trainer PK Leong was advised that if he detects any
abnormality with the gelding after cooling down, he would be expected to report this to
the Stewards. His explanation was noted. A post-race LORD COLLARI revealed no
obvious abnormality and the gelding was impounded.
