EXCELLENT GOAL (App HS Gill) was slowly away.
VISTA (J Low) was slow into stride.
TOSHI TOSHI (K Eirwan) and TIGER CAPTAIN (L Sofhan) both showed no early pace
despite being urged along. Thereafter TOSHI TOSHI commenced to over-race and was
difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
METALLICA (T Lukasek) drifted outwards under pressure in the home straight, obliging
its rider to stop and straighten on numerous occasions.
Near the 100M, TOSHI TOSHI drifted inwards under pressure, obliging its rider to stop
VISTA raced wide throughout the race.
NATURAL PERFORMER and MADE IN HEAVEN which raced poorly, will be
required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of METALLICA revealed no obvious abnormality.

Shankar stated that he was instructed to get a good jump and sit 4th or 5th position from an
inside barrier. He stated that GITHAN was in the barrier for a long time and his mount
became restless. He said that after jumping, GITHAN travelled well during the race and
when he asked for an effort in the home straight, his mount did not respond as expected
and was disappointing. His explanation was noted. Trainer K Coetzee confirmed the
instructions and advised the Stewards that GITHAN had been working well in its
trackwork and from a good barrier, he thought GITHAN had a good chance of winning
today, however, was disappointing. Trainer K Coetzee was advised that if he detects any
abnormality with the gelding after cooling down, he would be expected to report this to
the Stewards. His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of
GITHAN revealed no obvious abnormality. GITHAN was impounded.
